ESSEX SENIOR LEAGUE: Bowers & Pitsea travel to Southend Manor tomorrow aiming to secure a 10th win on the spin.

Bowers have been in stunning form since the end of November, winning all nine matches and scoring 42 goals in the process.

Despite Bowers sitting ninth in the standings, they have as many as 12 games in hand on the sides above them, and boast the second best goal difference in the division (42).

A win would lift Rob Small’s side into seventh, as they bid to close the gap on league leaders Haringey Borough.

It could not be a more different story for Southend Manor, who are on a losing run of 11 consecutive games.

Worryingly for Manor, 22 of those goals have come in Bowers’ last three away games.

Former Southend Manor man Jamie Salmon looks set to miss out for Bowers, which boss Small described as a blow due to his “imperious recent form”.

Hullbridge Sports host a struggling Greenhouse London side, looking for a repeat of their last home fixture last weekend.

Sports won 3-0 against Enfield 1893 but saw their midweek game against Sporting Bengal United called off due to a waterlogged pitch.

And Mark Bliss’ side will be keen to see tomorrow’s game go ahead, as they look to extend their unbeaten home record to seven games.

“We had six games in hand last season and lost all six which impacted on our final league position,” said Sports’ media manager Neil Hunwicks.

“We are a community club, we don’t have an owner that can pump money into the club and we have five pitches to maintain for our 22 sides. It's not easy.

“We just have to hope the rain is only light or it misses this part of the country.”

Captain Rob Hodgson is the only doubt ahead of the match.

Basildon United may have a sense of déjà-vu when they visit Takeley, the same side they were beaten by only a few days ago.

The Bees had won four of their last six games before Wednesday but were surprisingly beaten 2-0 by the side below them in the standings.

Manager Craig Gillam has a fully fit squad to choose from.
