CANVEY Island have added experienced midfielder Lee O’Leary to their ranks as they continue to build for the new season.

The former AFC Wimbledon and Hendon midfielder joins the club from Kingstonian, having played 32 times during the second-half of last season, guiding them to a seventh-place finish.

O’Leary, 30, who played almost 300 games for Hendon and skippered the London outfit is likely to provide some stiff competition in the midfield spot.

The Gulls have agreed terms with 14 of the squad from last term, while former loanee George Sykes will also represent the club next season.

And Heale said he is excited to have added O’Leary to his growing squad.

"I've been tracking Lee over the last year after finding out that he'd moved to the Essex area,” said Heale. “He has great quality with both feet, has an excellent range of passing and is very good in the air as well.

"He will bring great experience to the side and I am looking forward to working with him."
