l RUNDOWN: Concord Rangers take a break from the league and hope to take their much improved form into the FA Trophy.

The third round clash pits them against fellow National League South opponents Welling United - a team that has already enjoyed success at the Aspect Arena this season.

Welling were 5-0 winners in Essex at the start of September, although Welling have not maintained that from as the weeks have gone on.

They sit five points and three places below the Beach Boys in the league standings, with just 12 points from 19 games so far this term.

Welling have lost the last three in the league while Concord’s form has improved drastically in recent times.

Two wins and two draws in the last four have showed Concord are very much on the up, with Jordan Chiedozie and Steve Cawley in terrific form in front of goal.

l MANAGER’S VIEW: Concord boss Adam Flanagan said: “The priority each year is obviously to retain our league status but close behind that is to have some cup success - whether it be in the FA Cup, FA Trophy or Essex Senior Cup.

“As we are out of the FA Cup and Essex Senior Cup this is our last chance for some cup success this season.

“Welling were better than us when we met in the league and deserved to win. I felt we contributed towards the result on the day with a poor overall performance but we have come a long way since and I feel we are a strong team now going into this game.

“I think confidence is growing slowly so I would put the recent performances down to the new faces we have brought into the team over the last few weeks. They have pushed ours levels of performance higher and subsequently we have started to pick up points and win games.

“This team still has a lot more to offer so if we can continue to improve and confidence grow then we will continue to pick up points.”

l TEAM NEWS: Steve King returns to the squad having played for Billericay Town on Tuesday.
