BILLERICAY Town were pegged back late on by Met Police as their inconsistent recent run went on.

Town had enjoyed 6-0 and 3-0 victories against the Londoners in recent times but the away side were much improved at New Lodge, with Town blooding several new players after announcing a number of signings on Friday.

Michael Bakare, Matt Johnson and Luke Moore came into the XI and Town started brightly.

Town deservedly went ahead five minutes before the break and it was Bakare that made his mark.

Conor Hubble was clipped from behind in the penalty area and the Wrexham loanee made no mistake.

Quentin Monville, returning earlier than expected after a recent injury, was causing problems down the flank but Town missed the target more often that in the first-half.

Hubble shot wide and the home side would have been favourites to go on and add to their lead as the pressure grew but Met Police drew level just six minutes from time.

Sam Williams equalised following a goalmouth scramble, while Met Police were reduced to 10 men in the final minutes – with Ola Sogbanmu given his marching orders.
