BILLERICAY Town rounded off their pre-season friendly schedule by beating a West Ham United XI in front of a club record crowd at the AGP Arena.

An impressive 4,582 were in attendance as goals from Billy Bricknell, Jermaine Pennant and Sam Deering gave Glenn Tamplin's side a 3-1 win, with Dan Kemp getting on the scoresheet for the visitors.

The first meaningful effort of the evening came from the Hammers' highly-rated winger Martin Samuelsen.

The Norwegian advanced with the ball and struck a low effort from 25 yards, but Town goalkeeper Alan Julian was able to make a comfortable save.

Billericay were holding their own against the young Hammers side and began to dominate, with Louie Theophanous dragging an effort wide of the far post after good play by the home side.

Deering forced Nathan Trott into a superb save on the half hour mark as the attacking midfielder's header was tipped away by the goalkeeper.

But Trott's parry found Pennant and the former Champions League finalist skied the rebound from close range.

However, Pennant was to make amends for his miss as he was heavily involved when Billericay scored two in two minutes to take a commanding lead moments later.

Pennant headed a Theophanous cross across goal for Bricknell to head home in front of the bumper crowd at the AGP Arena.

And in Billericay's next attack, Pennant latched onto a defensive error before blasting a half-volley into the top corner.

But West Ham hit back on the hour mark as substitute Grady Diangana played the ball across the face of goal for Dan Kemp to smash home.

However, Deering restored Billericay two-goal advantage with 15 minutes to play with a close-range finish.

And although Town fashioned more opportunities, the scoreline remained 3-1.
