JACK Collison is desperate to put the disappointment of a difficult full debut at Bolton behind him by impressing West Ham's fans at Upton Park.

The teenager made his first start for the Irons - and his second appearance overall - at the Reebok Stadium, but his joy at being included in the first eleven was tempered by a 1-0 defeat and being substituted after just 50 minutes.

However, the Wales Under-21 international - backed by manager Alan Curbishley to "get over" the disappointment - has vowed to bounce back in Saturday's home game against relegated Derby County.

"I would love to play in front of the fans at Upton Park and it would be nice to get a win as well when I am playing," Collison, who made his Hammers debut as a substitute in the 2-0 at Arsenal on New Year's Day, told the club's official website.

"Fingers crossed, I will work hard now in training and we will see what happens."

Collison has enjoyed a good season, captaining the Irons' successful reserve side and being called into the Wales international set-up for the first time.

And the 19-year-old is remaining a in positive frame of mind, despite the mixed emotions he endured on his full debut.

"It was always going to be tough," he admitted.

"I am quite harsh on myself, I could have done a bit better but I think the team could have done a bit better as well.

"I was a bit disappointed to have come off when I did, especially as we had only just conceded.

"I would have liked to have got a bit longer on the pitch and try and help us get back into the game - but it wasn't to be. Hopefully I will get another chance soon."

However, Collison could find himself out of Alan Curbishley's starting line-up on Saturday as fellow Academy graduate Mark Noble and Sweden captain Freddie Ljungberg are both expected to fit, while Julien Faubert is also challenging for a place in the squad.
