WEST Ham United’s players are desperate to build on the confidence they gained from Sunday’s 1-0 win at Sunderland as they begin a December from hell.

The Irons travel to title-chasing Liverpool on Monday evening having not won at Anfield since 1964.

After that comes another Monday night date as a resurgent Tottenham Hotspur visit the Boleyn Ground on December 8, while the Hammers also face Premier League leaders Chelsea and fourth-placed Aston Villa before Christmas.

And while Gianfranco Zola’s side’s pre-Yuletide fixture list is far from festive, both Scott Parker and Valon Behrami feel the East Enders can go into the difficult-looking quartet of matches in confident mood.

“It (Sunday’s win) does breed confidence,” said Parker, who ended a week in which he was re-called to the senior England squad with a man-of-the-match performance at the Stadium of Light.

“We got a clean-sheet last week (against Portsmouth) which was a massive boost and won today so it’s something we can really build on.

“We’ve got some tough games coming up but we go into them with confidence and look forward to them.”

“It’s been an enjoyable week. Obviously I got called-up which was brilliant and then got the three points which was even better. It’s been a good week all-round really.”

It has also been a good few days for Switzerland midfielder Behrami, who scored his first goal for the club to clinch a vital three points on Wearside.

And the 23-year-old is relishing the opportunities to pit his wits against some of the Premier League’s biggest names during Advent.

“It’s tough because after seven games without a win everything you do is difficult,” he admitted.

“Now, after a win, there is a little bit less pressure. But now we have Liverpool, Tottenham and Chelsea – easy games!

“It’s a good experience when you are under pressure like this and you come out of this situation.

“We are not out of this difficult situation but, with this game, we showed that we can play under this pressure.”

*WEST Ham United’s second-string welcome Portsmouth to the Boleyn Ground for a Barclays Premier Reserve League South clash this evening (7pm kick-off).

Spanish striker Diego Tristan, James Tomkins, Walter Lopez and Calum Davenport could all feature for Alex Dyer’s side.

Admission is free for Hammers’ season ticket holders.
