ROCHFORD Hundred’s Taylor Carter was celebrating after winning the Rochford and Castle Point Sports Awards.

The golfer was the Rochford winner of the sportsman of the year award following a successful year at club, county and international level.

“Taylor is a well-respected member of Rochford Hundred Gold Club who works very hard at his craft and is fully deserving of his many plaudits,” said membership and marketing manager Ivor Finer.

Three-handicapper Lloyd Wright took the category one honours when Rochford Hundred held their Saturday monthly medal at the weekend.

He carded a nett 70 to take top spot from Tom Wells, who also plays off three, who finished with a nett 71.

Graham Collins (six) was the category two winner as he beat the CSS by four shots.

His round included two birdies and an eagled 16th on his way to a nett 67 that earned him a one-shot handicap reduction too.

Mark Lonergan (12) was runner up with nett 68, while the winner of the combined categories three and four was new member Jason Christensen (13) with nett 69, earning a handicap cut to 12, with Alan McEwen (nett 71) second.

The Sunday monthly medal saw a reverse of the Saturday result with Tom Wells’ nett 72 seeing him beat Lloyd Wright by a shot.

Richard Leigh (10) took category two with a nett 71 to earn a one-shot handicap reduction, while Rob Moss (seven) was second with nett 72.

Neil Watch (15) won category three and four with a nett 70 to have his handicap cut by a shot.

Michael Walker (15) also earned a one-shot handicap reduction after finishing second with a nett 71.
