PAUL Fox will partner Rochford Hundred head golf professional Michael Vandenberg in the Lombard Trophy next month,

Fox won on countback from Thomas Wells for the right to represent the club in the regional knockout stage at Ashridge Golf Club on Monday, June 27, where they will be aiming to progress to the final in Portugal on September 26-27.

Wells (3) won division one with a nett 67. Ian Hookway (5) was second a shot behind on countback from Mark Walden (5).

Fox (6) equalled Wells' score of 67 to win division two. Chris Day (7) was runner-up with nett 71.

Division three was won by Richard Campbell-Carr (13) who beat Wayne Fisher (16) on countback after both returned a nett 68.

Thomas Spall (14) won the midweek summer stableford with 37 points, Terry Strelis (12) was second with 36.

Rochford defeated Burnham-on-Crouch 5.5-3.5 in the Jubilee Cup to go top of the table, having one one match and drawn the other.

The victory came after two rounds of inter-club play in the mid to high handicap Essex Golf Union competition.

The ladies' Spring Meeting was played in poor weather but saw Carol Evans (17) win the silver division with 34 points from Maria Williams (7) 28 points.

Lynda Ivison (29) took the bronze division honours with 33 points, just a point ahead of Gill Warnock (20).
