GOLFERS from Boyce Hill created club history at the weekend by making the seventh round of the Mail on Sunday competition for the first time.
The victory over Upchurch River Valley, from Gillingham, Kent, was close, but Boyce did not lose any of the singles matches.
Captain Alex McGowan won 1up, Tony King won 2&1, Alex Wright finished all square, Gary Simmonds won 3&2 and David Abbott won 3&1.
The sixth round match was played at Boyce on fast greens and the win put the host club through to the last 32 of the competition.
The Mail on Sunday golf classic is the biggest amateur team event in the world with more than 3,500 clubs entered this year.
The finals are played in Portugal.
