STUART Bingham crashed out of the Bulgaria Open at the first hurdle.

The match was the first since the world number 10 triumphed in the Shanghai Masters last month, his second career major win, but he was defeated by David Grace by 4-3 on Saturday.

Bingham started well and moved into a two frame lead, with a break of 51 in the second frame – his highest break in the contest.

But Grace drew level before Vange potter Bingham took a 3-2 lead in the best of seven contest. Grace picked up his game and breaks of 60 and 64 in the two deciding frames were enough to secure his progress.

Bingham will compete in the Haining Open in China later this month and tweeted after his defeat to Grace ‘‘5 chances a frame wasn't enough for me today! Lol. Oh well, can't grumble too much. Back to China in 9 days time. #AT2’
