C&K BASILDON Ladies reached the first round of the FA Cup after a 3-1 win over Barking.

A brace from Zoe Rushen and a late goal from Amy Nash proved enough to send the hosts through, although the Eastern Region Premier side put up a valiant fight.

It only took four minutes for C&K to open the scoring, and it was a spectacular goal – Rushen bending an effort past the Barking goalkeeper after Sara Sinclair had seen an initial effort blocked.

Chelsea Hinz then came close with a dipping effort but it was a defensive error that was C&K’s undoing with only 15 minutes played – Naomi Ogunde pouncing to score.

Lucy Wyatt and Rushen came close before Nash burst forward only to be denied by a terrific save as her effort was turned behind.

Nash was again denied before the break and it wasn’t until the hour mark that C&K regained the lead – and it came from the penalty spot – when Nash’s corner was pushed away.

Rushen almost added a third with 15 minutes to go when she drove in from the angle of the penalty area before sending a right-footed shot just wide of the post.

Sinclair had two efforts saved before Nash did get the goal her play deserved in injury time.

Rushen released Nash, and she took the ball into the penalty area before shooting home.
