BILLERICAY & WICKFORD Boxing Club will have four boxers looking for national titles this weekend.

Rio Emmins defeated Jamal Khan (Ring ABC) in their class A 52kg semi-final at Portsmouth to secure his place in the final of the NABGC championships.

The Basildon boxer, who became Billericay & Wickford’s first national champion when he claimed the ABA Junior Cadet Championship 48kg crown in March, will be joined by three club-mates.

Joe Giles is in action in the class C 91kg final, while Kariss Barwick and Jessica Lelliot step into the ring for their 57kg class A and 69kg class C showdowns.

Emmins faces Callum Grace from Bradford's Platinum Boxing Academy in Portsmouth on Saturday night in their class A final, for boxers born in 2000.

Barwick will also be in action on the south coast when she faces Boston ABC's Angelina Finch.

Giles heads to Croydon tonight (Thursday) for his title bout with Lewis Williams from Clearys Boxing Gym in Leamington Spa. Class C is for boxers born in 1997 or 1998.

Lelliot is also fighting at Croydon when she takes on Lauris Abdull from St Paul's ABC in Hull.

This is the first year that the National Association of Boys and Girls Club championships has had a competition for female boxers.
