SHOEBURY diving sensation Tyler Humphreys has continued his rise to stardom with two gold medals at the British Elite Junior Diving Championships in Plymouth.

The 13-year-old took gold on the one-metre springboard and the three-metre springboard to be crowned double national champion.

Humphreys, who won the 3m silver and platform bronze at last year’s event, finished almost 20 point ahead of the second-placed diver in the 1m final last Friday, with a score of 327.45.

And the result was even more emphatic in the 3m final, as his score of 378.15 was more than 30 clear of the rest of the field.

The result follows an incredibly promising start to the season for Humphreys, in which the Southend Diving teen won a gold medal on his international debut in Edinburgh the previous week and came sixth diving in an elite field at the senior nationals.

Humphreys’ performances to date this year have earned him an England spot at the Mediterranean Cup in Bolzano, Italy in July.
