ARSENAL Ladies prospect Chloe Brunton-Wilde has her eyes set on the first-team next season after another memorable 12 months with the north London club.

The 18-year-old from Shoebury has just helped Arsenal Reserves win the FA WSL Development League, starting all 14 games, along with the League Cup following a 2-1 win over Sheffield Ladies in extra-time.

It is the second consecutive season Brunton-Wilde has won both trophies with the Gunners and she is now looking forward to a summer in France, competing in the Under-19s Champions League.

And the talented defensive midfielder, who has just been offered a yearly extension to her contract, wants to impress in France as she sets her sights on breaking into the first-team next season.

“It was a really great season,” she said. “Winning the ‘double double’ is a great feeling as we worked so hard to achieve it but we always want to win more.

“It was a good feeling to be offered a contract for another year but I want to push on and see if I can get in the first team. I have trained with them but not been involved in a squad yet and that is what I want.

“The women are much bigger and stronger and you can tell how good they are but I want to be at that level.”

Brunton-Wilde will be part of the squad that heads to Lyon this summer, with games against the likes of the host city and Dutch side FC Twente to look forward to.

And she said it will be another learning curve for her.

“It will be a great tournament and I am really looking forward to it,” she said. “The first game is on June 25 and I really want to play of course.

“It has been a good season and I hope to have a good summer in France as well.”
