LEIGH cycling team Richardsons-Trek enjoyed a successful race at the London Nocturne
Regarded as one of the biggest Criterium races in the country, Luke Ryan, Dean Shannon, Jez McCann, Kieran Brady and Josh Outram competed in the sprint around Smithfield Market.
In front of a huge crowd of 25,000 fans on Saturday, Ryan finished the course in 11th position in 55 minutes 9:40 seconds, just 15 seconds behind the winner Christopher Lawless (JLT Condor) with Shannon in 14th place (55:11:10).
Outram finished in 24th (55:30:50) and McCann in 26th (56:06:10).
Elsewhere, Simon Alexander and Luke Hattersley took part in the Regional Championships in Hertfordshire with the latter coming so close to an impressive win.
Hattersley escaped with James Jobber and the two of them built up a lead which kept them away until the finish.
But cramp set in in the final stages and Hattersley settled for second, a good effort for a rider who is in his first year back in the sport.
In the Pearl Izumi Tour Series event at Stevenage, Ryan, Shannon, Brady, McCann and Dante Carpenter impressed in the Guest Team competition.
Ryan again made the front group, taking 18th place as Richardsons-Trek extended their lead in the competition, which gives local teams the chance to compete against Britain’s fastest teams.
