A TALENTED youngster at one of south Essex’s most successful dojos has won silver at a national karate event.

Skye Taylor, aged nine, won silver at the Karate Union Of Great Britain’s National Youth Championships in Chesterfield, in what was a profitable day for Thundersley’s Stock Shotokan Karate Club gained another medal at the weekend when 9 year old Skye Taylor took Silver in the Karate Union Of Great Britain, National Youth Championships held at Chesterfield.

Skye competed in the novice to 1st Kyu Kihon Ippon Kumite and excelled with a number of other students.

Annalisa Marano, 15, and Henri Goddard, 8, both entered and just missed out on progressing into the finals in their individual events.

And club instructor Adam Purkiss said it was a great effort in what was the first time the club had entered the competition.

“The students did really well and we are really pleased with the result.”
