FOURTEEN anglers competed in the latest open match at Northlands Park cafe lake.

The fishing was quite slow but most anglers caught.

In first place was Alan Halsey with 8lb 1oz, which consisted of one bream of 2lb 8oz on the tip and roach using caster on the pole.

Second place went to John Musson with 7lb 15oz and third place went to Keith Miles with 7lb of roach.

In fourth place was Mark Henry with 4lb 13oz.

Elsewhere, Basildon carp angler Chris Cummins has moved of off his syndicate waters for the winter and is enjoying some short session carp fishing on Northlands Park road lake.

Armed with his pink pop-ups which he fishes with everywhere, Cummins’ latest five hour session produced a fantastic 20lb 10oz common carp.

The next match will be back at Gloucester Park on Sunday.

Those wishing to take part should meet at 7am, with the draw taking place half an hour later.

The match starts at 8.30am and finishes at 2.30pm.

Prices are £12 all in, which includes £5 day ticket and £7 pools.

There will also be an optional £5 super pools. Two keep nets and an unhooking mat are required to take part.
