DAVID Berg fished an overnight session at Gloucester Park in the big bay.

Armed with his homemade boilies Berg caught 22 carp, ranging in weight from 9lb to 14lb, and a 5lb tench.

Alec Bailey, fishing an overnight stint from the cockle bank, landed three carp to 18lb and three tench to 4lb, Bailey’s successful method was fishing maize hook bait on a method feeder, casting very tight to the island.

Anglers fishing shorter sessions are also getting among the fish.

Basildon-based Rob Mayes fished two consecutive early morning sessions and landed eight carp to 15lb and a 2lb 8oz crucian carp on his first trip.

He fished his favoured swim for the second and landed nine carp to 18lb and three tench to 2lb 8oz.

Mayes’ successful bait was the new Krill band’um pellets plus the spicy sausage halibut pellets from Sonu-baits.

Terry Hart fished an afternoon session at Gloucester Park and landed four tench to 3lb, two bream to 2lb 8oz and two scrapier double-figure carp.

The tench have also been playing a big part at Northlands Park cafe lake in Pitsea.

Phillip Joyce fished a 24-hour session and landed 44lb of tench, with all the fish weighing more than 4lb.

Joyce fished marine halibut pellets on a hair rig with a cage feeder.

Wayne Candy fished a three-and-a-half-hour session from the concrete ramp swim and landed 14 bream to 5lb and approximately 20 small roach to six inches.

Candy’s successful method in this corner of the lake was to fish a pole at 11-13 metres.

Other notable captures from the cafe lake include Stuart Goudge, who float-fished a lob worm and landed a personal best perch at 3lb 12oz. And Tyler O’Flynn landed a personal best in the shape of a 6lb tench. Over on the road side of the complex, Lee Nosworthy fished a 24-hour session and landed four carp from 17lb to 21lb.
