IT’S been an exciting start to the Premiership season with a number of unexpected results.

Leicester Tigers have lost three of their first five games which I don’t think anyone saw coming and Bath have been doing really well too.

They beat my old club Saracens 21-11 at the weekend and they are now up to second in the table.

I’m not that surprised to be honest though because I’ve worked with their head coach, Mike Ford, during my time at Saracens, so I know what he’s about and what he will be stressing to his players.

You can see that in their performances but I have to admit I don’t actually watch too much of the Premiership now.

I probably follow the Top14 in France a bit more but I obviously keep tabs on what’s happening over here too.

I still have a few friends who are playing that I like to keep in touch with and see how they’re doing.

And I actually think a few unexpected victories make the league even more exciting.

The standard of the matches is very high and I think it will be very interesting to see how the rest of the season pans out.

ANOTHER DAY OF FRUSTRATION FOR THE TEAM

UNFORTUNATELY it was another frustrating afternoon for us against Dorking on Saturday.

It was one that got away and saw us beat ourselves to be entirely honest.

I’m going to sound like a broken record, but we just need to cut out the mistakes we keep on making.

We gave six penalties away at the weekend and their kicker kicked them all.

Our kicker missed three but there’s no way we will be blaming him because that’s the worst job in the game.

Everyone was really down after the defeat, but I think that’s a good thing.

We’re not taking the bad run we’re in lightly and we will be back in tonight and on Thursday to work hard in training.

I honestly haven’t seen anything in this league to frighten us and I don’t think it’s inconceivable that we could go on a six or seven-match winning run.

Things will definitely turn around for us very soon and we’re all still confident of having a good season.
