ROCHFORD Hundred brilliantly fought back from 23-5 down to triumph at Campion in London Two North East.

Rochford seemed to be heading for a second successive defeat when their fellow high-flyers started strongly.

But Hundred were able to still come out on top to rise back up to third in the table.

Rochford were initially able to defend well but Campion’s early pressure told when their winger ran in for a try.

In reply, Rochford’s prop forward Michael Mark soon drove over to level the scores but Campion soon got back on top.

Two penalties put them 11-5 in front before a converted try extended that lead even further just before half-time.

After the break another try put Campion 23-5 ahead but Rochford soon began to get back on top.

As a result, Dan Needham beautifully picked up a loose ball to scorch down the field to score under the posts and Adam Ashton added the extra two points.

Moments later, impressive centre Matt Stewart finished off a fast Rochford response to go over and Ashton again converted from out wide to cut Campion’s lead to 23-19.

As time then started to run out, Rochford forced play down to the Campion line and, from a strong set piece, scrum Brett Smith picked up the ball and somehow burrowed over for a match winning try.
