PROP forward Harley Skidmore cannot wait for Westcliff to host Chicester in National Three London & SE tomorrow.

Westcliff have triumphed in their last two home games, beating both Guernsey and Westcombe Park.

And Skidmore is now seeking a third successive win at the Gables.

“Playing at home is great because we get a large vocal crowd cheering us on and I'm sure it helps the whole team,” said the Canvey Island based 19-year-old.

“Chichester’s recent results suggest it will be another tough afternoon for us on Saturday but one which we are looking forward to.”

Fifth placed Chicester have won three of their last four games whereas Westcliff were beaten 28-12 at East Grinstead last weekend.

But Skidmore felt the defeat was down to the excellence of the home-side.

“East Grinstead are a very professional outfit who I think will eventually get promoted,” said Skidmore.

“They are the strongest and best drilled side we have played this season and that made it very hard for us.”

The setback kept 12th in the 14 team table.

But Skidmore is confident Westcliff will be able to avoid an immediate return to London One North.

“Despite our results I think we have coped well with the step up to National League Three,” said Skidmore.

“With some hard work and luck we can definitely stay up this season.”
