SOUTHEND Saxons sunk to a 40-11 defeat at high-flying Bishop’s Stortford to remain 13th in National Two South this afternoon.
Westcliff are also 13th in National Three London & SE after losing 22-12 at home to Chicester.
In London One North, Thurrock were beaten 23-20 by Barking and, in London Two North East, it was also a bad afternoon for Rochford Hundred who slipped from top in the table to fourth after losing 12-3 at Enfield Ignatians.
That enabled Chelmsford to head back in to pole position after they beat Basildon 32-8.
South Woodham Ferrers were seen off 19-18 at Holt but it was a far better afternoon for Billericay who secured their first victory of the season in London Three North East.
Billericay had suffered 10 defeats in a row before today’s 30-29 win against Wanstead which moved them up to second from bottom on the standings.
In Essex One, Canvey Island saw off Writtle Wanderers 18-5 while Pegasus Palmerians lost 47-0 at home to May & Baker.
