JACKSON Wray secured a stunning end to the season, helping Saracens beat Bath 28-16 in the Premiership final at Twickenham on Saturday.

The 24-year-old former King John School pupil came off the bench to replace a concussed Alistair Hargreaves in the 33rd minute.

And the 24-year-old, who started his rugby career with Westcliff, was able to help Saracens withstand a spirited second half fightback from Bath.

Saracens, who ended the regulation season in fourth, were by far the superior side early on as they scored three unanswered tries with Owen Farrell, former Southend loanne Jamie George and Chris Wyles all touching down to secure a 25-3 half-time lead.

England international Farrrell also kicked a further 10 points but Bath fought back strongly in the second half with fly-half George Ford kicking eight points and centre Jonathan Joseph scoring a try.

That helped Bath get back to within nine points of Saracens but a penalty from Farrell soon increased Sarries’ lead and enabled them to comfortably see out the closing stages of the game which was played in front of more than 80,000 fans.

The Saracens supporters celebrated their side’s victory among joyous scenes at the final whistle and so did the players, including Wray, 12 months after suffering a heartbreaking last gasp defeat at this stage last season against Northampton Saints.
