WESTCLIFF will be looking to put things right when they visit Westcombe Park in National Three London & SE tomorrow.

Westcliff were seen off 29-10 by East Grinstead last weekend.

And prop forward Shaun Roberts is keen to secure the first victory of the new season.

“Westcombe Park is going to be another tough fixture but we have worked very hard this week on the silly errors we made against East Grinstead,” said the 25-year-old.

“We are confident we can push them all the way too.”

Roberts is also relishing the clash having missed all of last season with a knee injury.

And he also feels confident Westcliff will be able finish higher than last season when they narrowly avoided relegation on the final day.

“We feel we will be able to mix it with the best of the teams in this league,” said Roberts.

“We are also confident of being able to finish mid table.”

But Westcliff will need to be on top form to make that happen.

And last weekend’s opener against East Grinstead was a stark reminder of how tough the standard will again be this term.

“I thought that in places we played very well,” said Roberts.

“Despite the result, we took a lot of from the way we defended in the first 30 minutes and the way we attacked in the last 20. “We feel we have come a long way since last season but we were annoyed that we let them feed of our mistakes rather than them creating their own opportunities.

“We can’t afford to let that happen again tomorrow.”
