THURROCK got their promotion push back on track with a narrow 16-15 win against CS Rugby 1863, despite ending the match with just 13 men.

The victory kept Thurrock fifth in the London One North standings, five points behind league leaders Amersham & Chiltern.

And T’s director of rugby Dean White was full of praise for his side.

“Saturday was one hell of a battle and we showed fantastic character to come through a very tough test,” said White.

“CS Rugby came with a very strong in-form side and tested us for 80 minutes.

“We also had to deal with two very controversial red cards in the second half which made our job even harder.”

However, Thurrock were still able to secure the victory, thanks to a fine defensive display.

“One area that the coaching staff were very pleased with was our defence,” said White.

“CS put us under a huge amount of pressure but we held firm in the second half with only 13 men.

“Our attack wasn't at the level we expect but it was a game that the players threw everything at.

“The commitment from every player was brilliant and they showed that we can also win ugly when needed. “
