ROCHFORD Hundred made it back to back wins with a hard-fought 21-17 triumph at Cantabrigian.

Rochford turned on the style in the second half to move up to fifth in the London Two North East table.

And Hundred’s first team manager Graham Pratt was full of praise for the display.

“It was a great team performance in the end and a lovely way to go into the new year,” said Pratt.

“It gives coach Michael Guess and his squad plenty to look forward to as well.

“It’s a good win but the second half seemed to go on forever.”

Neither team were able to score during the first 40 minutes but the match livened up at the start of the second half.

Cantabrigian went in front with an unconverted try but Rochford hit back well with Gavin Tusini slipping a pass to the supporting Greg Whight, inset, who broke through to score.

Scott Horsburgh’s conversion put Rochford 7-5 in front before the hosts replied with another try from a short line-out to regain the lead.

However, Hundred continued to fight hard with Matt Stewart, Michael Stemp, Louis Marshall and Tusini causing Cantabrigian problems.

And their pressure eventually resulted in another try for Whight which Horsburgh converted to put Rochford into a 14-12 lead.

But the two point advantage did not last long as Cantabrigian soon bagged their third try of the afternoon.

As a result, Rochford were forced to dig deep and showed good character to force their hosts onto the back foot before the powerful Tusinu capped an excellent performance by forcing his way over the line to score a crucial try which was converted by Horsburgh to secure an excellent win.
