WESTCLIFF head into today's meeting with Tonbridge Juddian looking to turn good performances into more points.

Westcliff have been narrowly beaten in their first two National Three London & SE games of the new season.

But their director of rugby, Rick Compton, is expecting another tricky match at the Gables this weekend.

“Saturday’s game will be a big test for us as Tonbridge are much fancied to secure the promotion they missed out on with the last kick of the play-off final back in April,” said Compton.

“We know what to expect from them, which is a strong efficient pack and pacey backs who will look to put width on the game at every opportunity.

“They did just that in beating Southend convincingly on the opening day, although they fell short in their own local derby at the weekend losing narrowly to Westcombe Park.”

Westcliff were also narrowly edged out by Southend last weekend.

And Compton knows his team will need to be on top of their game to triumph today.

“We will have to be at our best to get something from the game but we are capable of doing so,” he added.
