WESTCLIFF will be looking to put last weekend’s frustrating postponement behind them when they travel to high-flying Wimbledon tomorrow.

Westcliff’s scheduled clash at home to Amersham & Chiltern was a late victim to the freezing conditions last Saturday.

And full-back Chris Dudman is now keen to return to action with an impressive performance against their second placed hosts.

“It was a very annoying situation to be involved in last weekend because it was a game we were thoroughly looking forward to,” said Dudman.

“We had worked hard for the game and were mentally and physically prepared on the day with the warm up going well.

“To then have the game called off just before kick was very frustrating but we’ve had to put that behind us and focus on playing Wimbledon now.

“It’s a tough test because they are high up the league and have a quick attacking game we will need to be alert to.

“But it’s certainly a game we’re looking forward to, especially after the frustration we suffered last weekend.”

Westcliff head into the clash sitting 10th in the table and look to have their work cut out against a Wimbledon side who are second in the table.

Wimbledon have triumphed in 14 of their 16 matches this term.

But Dudman is looking forward to the tough looking test and believes the team is well set to put in a strong performance.

“The team is looking really strong going into the next block of fixtures,” said Dudman.

“With the last few weeks off it’s given some players a chance to get back from injury and we can’t wait to get back out onto the pitch now.”
