SEEVIC’S Rugby Academy have been crowned AOC League Champions - but are still targeting more success.

The Thundersley based youngsters are two wins away from Twickenham in the NatWest Schools Vase competition and face Yorkshire’s Silcoates School in the quarter-finals this afternoon.

But Seevic’s director of rugby Danny Cleare is also keen for the team to triumph in the AOC Premier League play-offs.

“It’s the first time we’ve won the league since 2014 so it’s a great achievement but there’s still plenty for us to play for and target,” said Cleare.

“By winning the league it allows us to go into the AOC Premier League play-off stage, where we will battle against seven other teams for the title.

“It’s an important competition for us.

“Last year we managed to get to the finals but this year we are pushing to go one step further and win the AOC Premier League competition.

“We’re still in the NatWest Schools Vase as well and it would be fantastic if we could get through to Twickenham like we did a couple of years ago.

“But we’re facing another difficult game and a long trip to Yorkshire in the quarter-finals.”

However, Seevic have been training hard in the build up to the game.

And Cleare wants the league title to lead to more glory.

“Everyone has trained hard this year and it has shown in our games,” said Cleare.

“The boys now need to enjoy the moment of being league champions but more importantly use this success as a springboard to want more.

“As a college we still have a lot to give and there is much more to play for which is what we’re now focusing on.”

Seevic made sure of the league title with a 50-0 win against Oaklands College.

Winger Norbertas Radzevicius bagged a hat-trick of tries, centre George Griffiths touched down twice while Jordan Dyer and Joe Hurley also scored tries.

Fly-half Tom Ramsey enjoyed a good day with the boot, adding six conversions and a penalty.

And he was delighted to have helped Seevic secure the league title.

“It is a really great feeling winning the league and I am glad that I have done it with these boys,” said Ramsey, who studies Level 3 BTEC in Sport and Exercise Science.

“We want to keep the good run going now though and make the remainder of the season as successful as possible.”
