INDIA Harvey returned from an 11 week injury lay-off to help T-Birds beat title rivals Trojans 38-0.

The two teams began the Championship South One clash level on points at the top of the table.

And Harvey was thrilled to play a key part in such an important victory.

“To get the win was something we knew we were capable of after a great few weeks of cup games and it was a very good feeling,” said the former Greensward School pupil.

“The first 20 minutes was incredibly close and the tension was high.

“Going in at half time at 12-0 up we knew we had a huge second half on our hands but the crowd were definitely our 16th person on the pitch and carried us through to the final whistle.

“We settled into the game in the second half and played our game plan which then resulted in a few more tries.

“Getting the win has cemented our place at the top of the table with only one more game to go.”

Harvey was among the T-Birds’ try scorers and was pleased to be back on the pitch after operations to her foot and thumb.

“After 11 weeks out it was an amazing feeling to be back playing,” said Harvey.

“I trained for the first time on Wednesday and knew I felt great and was able to be part of the team.

“I’m not good at being on the sideline and was itching to be back with the girls on the pitch.

“It was amazing to come back for a top of the table clash.”

A point of any kind against Richmond seconds in early March will now secure the title for the T-Birds.

And Harvey is keen to secure a successful end to the season.

“Our main focus is to ensure we win the league but we still have a few more rounds of the cup competition, where we play against Premiership sides,” said Harvey.

“But we want to win that last league game because winning the league would mean we then go into a north v south cup in which we play the winners of championship north.

“Doing well in the cup and winning the north v south play off will all help our bid for a Premiership place next season.”
