WESTCLIFF will be looking for back to back victories when they head to Colchester in National Three London & SE.

Ninth placed Westcliff returned to winning ways with a 25-11 victory against Guildford on Saturday.

And second row Charlie Jobling is now keen to secure more of the same against a Colchester side currently second from bottom in the standings.

“Beating Guildford was great but we want to go and build on that now,” said Jobling.

“Every game for the rest of this season is going to be big as we see them as all winnable matches but Colchester, despite their lack of wins, have been running teams very close to the wire so we won’t be taking them from granted.

“The last time we played them, they answered in the second half with 17 unanswered points so we know if we give them the time and space to play, they can definitely hurt us.

“But I’m fully confident if we stick to our game plan, we will come away with the win.”

Westcliff will also head into the encounter full of confidence after ending a run of three successive defeats with a hard-fought win against Guildford.

“Getting that result was brilliant because Guildford are a good team with a solid set piece,” said Jobling.

“And we got a bit of revenge on them because the last time we played them we let the game go really late on.

“We always knew January was going to be tough, playing the top three teams in the league, but Saturday was the start of a run of games we need to be targeting five points.

“We are confident and looking to close the gap on the mid-table teams like Shelford and Dorking and aim for a top six finish.”
