ROCHFORD Hundred extended their winning start to the season with a 59-5 victory at Ipswich.

The triumph kept Rochford top of the London Two North East table. And prop forward Craig Strachan was happy to have made it three wins in a row.

“The game on Saturday was very good,” said Strachan.

“The aim was to get the bonus point win and we achieved that.

“After the big win last week it was important to back it up and the start to the season has been very promising.

"We’ve got maximum points and we have scored the most points.

"The only downside so far is that we haven’t conceded the least amount of points so our aim now is to work on our defence and we are doing that.”

But securing more victories and the league title remains Strachan’s main target.

“The hope for the season is definitely to aim for promotion and if we can couple that with a good cup run, I think everyone at the club will be happy,” said Strachan.

“But it is very important to not get complacent. We are lucky to have an experienced coaching set up and they will not let us get complacent, especially our strength and conditioning coach, who seems to be working us harder each week.”

Strachan, who was described as outstanding by first team manager Graham Pratt, was among Rochford’s try scorers at the weekend.

Adam Ferrier, Luke Court-Rhind, Stuart Whatling, Tom Pickering, David Rufai and Matt Stewart also touched down while Mark Billings bagged two tries. The rest of the points came from the boot of Tom Ashton.
