SOUTHEND Saxons have announced the departure of their director of rugby Martin Jones.
Saxons were relegated from the London & SE Premier Division at the weekend.
And a statement from the club's co-chairmen David Short and David Ridler has today confirmed Jones has left Warners Bridge.
"It is with regret that Southend RFC and Martin Jones (Director of Rugby) have mutually decided to part ways with immediate effect," said the statement.
"Martin has a long-standing affiliation with Southend RFC and has brought a wealth of experience to the director of rugby role.
"We wish to place on record our appreciation to Martin for his hard work for the club in ensuring the Saxons' survival from relegation last season and for also managing a very difficult season this year.
"We wish Martin all the best in his future endeavours.
"Southend RFC are reviewing plans for the Saxons ahead of the 2018/19 season and will release further information in due course."
Southend are currently second from bottom in the table with 19 defeats in 23 games.
