SOUTHEND Saxons head to Sidcup on the final day of the London & SE Premier Division season tomorrow.

Southend’s relegation has already been confirmed.

But utility back Ross O’Brien has committed to the club for another season and feels the future is still bright for Saxons.

“There is an exciting project developing at the club, and I am keen to see it through until the end,” said O’Brien.

“Also the desire to stay is in no small part down to the wider club community, supporters and sponsors involved with the club.

“These people are always with us and supporting us, regardless of whether we win, lose or draw.

“There is something exciting being built here and hopefully that will come to fruition moving forward into next season.”

Southend lost a number of players last summer and have found it tough going this term, losing 20 of their 25 matches.

However, the Saxons - who now have Josh Ward as director of rugby - will be hoping to sign off on a high by beating 10th placed Sidcup.

In London One North, bottom of the table South Woodham Ferrers have also suffered relegation after a miserable run of results.

But they will be looking to lift spirits with a win at 11th placed Diss in their final game of the campaign.

In London One South, Thurrock will be looking to avoid relegation.

Thurrock sit just one place and two points ahead of the relegation zone and head to fifth placed Cobham this weekend aiming to do enough to beat the drop.
