SOUTHEND High School for Boys are celebrating after winning their first ever 15-a-side Essex Cup rugby final.

The school’s Year 10 side saw off Rayleigh’s FitzWimarc School 55-0 in the final played at Barking Rugby Club.

Tries were scored by William Leslie-Green, Taylor Hartman, captain Reece King, Charlie Metcalf and Max Staggs Willox, who also kicked five conversions.

Southend also beat Coopers, Brentwood Public and Campion on their way to the final.

But the school have continued to impress in a wide range of sports during the school year.

Their Year 7 and 8 teams triumphed in the Essex cross-country championships and the same two age groups also won the county basketball events.

The school’s year seven team have also reached the final of the Essex Cup football final when they will play Harris Academy.
