LINCEWOOD Primary School’s Year 6 football team have been crowned district champions.
The Langdon Hills school won the Basildon District Cup after getting the better of Eversley Junior School in a thrilling final at Woodlands School.
Lincewood had only lost one game all season and they took this good form into the final.
They opened the scoring midway through the first half with a well-taken goal by Kai Redgrave.
Eversley started to push in the second half and put Lincewood on the back foot.
But Lincewood wrestled back the intitiative and goals from Samuel Wright and Kai Redgrave completed a 3-0 win.
The victory was Lincewood’s second cup title in the past three years and coach Matt Cornall said his young charges had done him proud.
“The team were absolutely fantastic and winning a trophy caps off an amazing season,” he said. “Every one of them should be proud of their efforts.”
