5:30pm Thursday 10th November 2011 in Tennis By Paul Alton
YOUNGSTERS from Westcliff Hardcourts tennis club turned in a strong performance at the Garons Tennis Academy tournament.
Siblings James and Hayley Needs won the boys’ 12 and under and the girls’ 16 and under singles titles respectively after defeating strong opposition.
And Gianluca Broadley was a comfortable winner in the boys’ 14 and unders singles, while Finlay Milner played some excellent tennis to prevail in the 18 and under round robin event.
The tournament was played at Southend Leisure and Tennis Centre, in Eastern Avenue, Southend, over four days.
It was the second year the event had been held and it attracted an increased number of entries in all categories, with enough girls to run three age groups.
The event was organised and refereed by Westcliff couple Lesley and Ian Pitt.
