I THINK our lack of pre-season training is coming back to haunt us again at the moment.

As everyone knows we had to get a squad together in a very short space of time before the games began in the summer and we had people coming in with varying levels of fitness all the time We couldn’t do much work with them because getting a team together with the right shape and tactics was more important at the time and it’s something which has killed us ever since.

The niggling injuries we’ve picked up have been to do with that and now I also think that’s why the team are beginning to look quite leggy.

Our fitness coach and physiotherapist have been absolutely fantastic in making sure the players peak at the right times and I really couldn’t have asked any more from them.

But we do need to freshen up the team.

As a result, I will be having a meeting today and we will be going through the players we have targeted to sign on loan before the transfer window shuts next week.

I’m sure some of them will become available because of the financial situations many clubs find themselves in at the moment.

I would like to bring someone in before Saturday’s game with Lincoln and I’m fully aware this game has an extra edge to it with Steve Tilson being their manager.

It’s an important game for us too and we want three points to help us with our challenge of getting in to the play-offs.

However, it will be a very difficult game.

Only a few weeks ago, Lincoln were fighting for their lives but they’ve put together a run of good results and can now see some light at the end of the tunnel.

They’ve moved up the table and I think we will have to play even better than we did against Gillingham if we are to get anything out of the game.

I thought our match against the Gills was very entertaining and both sides really went at it to try and win and that was good to see.

Blair was in the wars and needed four stitches after an incident in the first half, which he bizarrely didn’t even get a free-kick for.

But he wasn’t concussed and will be fine to play at the weekend.

We’re hopeful Kane Ferdinand will be back as well.

We won’t play him until he’s fully ready again but he’s not far away now and it would be great if we could get him out there on Saturday.
