BLUES right-back Simon Francis has heaped more importance on tomorrow’s clash with Huddersfield Town.

Southend are currently one place and one point above the Terriers.

And the 23-year-old insists it is therefore imperative for the Shrimpers to come out on top when the two teams go head to head at Roots Hall.

“It is a six pointer and a very important game for us tomorrow,” said Francis.

“Being at home, we have to make it as hard as we can for them and get the right result.

“Because of the recent scores that we have had we have to go into the game against Huddersfield thinking that it is the biggest game of the season.”

The Shrimpers have not won in the league since beating Leeds United in late October and Francis wants to get back on track ahead of what could be a crucial part of the campaign.

“Looking at the league table now is as good a time as any for us to get points back on the board,” he said.

“We have four games coming up this month and during that time, we have to try and push up a few places in the league to get ourselves back into the play-off spots.

“The matches are always important around this time of year and we need to make sure we get a win this weekend.”
