I’VE been asked quite a few times about our goal celebration at Oldham Athletic on Saturday.

For those of you who didn’t see it, we all got in a circle before falling to the floor, and it was actually a dig at Anthony Grant.

He has been getting plenty of stick for the way he went down against Leicester City the week before. And this was just another way of continuing the joke.

Sadly he didn’t see it because he was talking to the bench, but we certainly enjoyed it and so did the fans.

They were fantastic on the day, just like they have been all season, and it was great to see them all dancing around the stand in fancy dress.

It was a good result too as Oldham is never an easy place to go and hopefully we can now finish off the season with a good result at home to Cheltenham Town this weekend.

PUZZLED AT GIGGS GETTING AWARD

We went to the PFA presentation night at the weekend and, once again, it was an excellent night.

But while I’m a huge fan of Ryan Giggs and fully understand he’s probably the most successful player in the history of the British game, I do find it strange that he won player of the year this season.

He should have won it before now but he’s only started 12 games this season and I’m not sure someone who hasn’t played that much can win the award.

There have been a number of other performers, including the likes of Rio Ferdinand (who I voted for), Nemanja Vidic, Steven Gerrard, Wayne Rooney and Ronaldo who have all been superb and, for this season, I would have put them above Giggs.

SPINNER AND I STICK OAR IN WITH TEAM ROW

My old defensive partner Spencer Prior has his benefit match at Roots Hall next Tuesday against Derby County and I hope he gets a really good crowd to raise money for Little Havens.

It will be good to see Spinner again and it will give us the chance to carry on our on-going row we have with each other.

We were both raised locally and we always used to have little jokes about who played for the best junior team.

He always used to say it was Whitecaps, who he played for, while I used to say it was my team, Hawkwell.

FATS AND FIGURES FROM THE CHUBBY CHECKER

We all had our body fat measured at the training ground this week.

It will also be measured when we report back in for pre-season training to make sure we aren’t out of shape too much.

The days of that happening are long gone now, but Osei Sankofa has been getting a bit of sticks from his mates in the squad.

His body fat percentage was a little bit higher than expected and Anthony Grant and James Walker have been quick to call him chubby which he isn’t too happy about.
