YOUNGSTERS were delighted when their parents fixed it for them to meet Bob the Builder at Basildon’s Festival Leisure Park.

The cuddly children’s TV character popped down to do a spot of work and meet his young fans who queued to meet him at Bas Vegas.

Eager boys and girls cuddled and spoke to Bob, with many dressing as their workman hero and bringing a host of Bob dolls and pick-up trucks to show him.

The leisure park also marked its tenth birthday by giving away a brand new Chevrolet Aveo to a lucky winner.

The winner – mum of two Kelly Bishop, from Kelvedon Hatch – was selected from a prize draw, which attracted over 4,000 entrants.

The competition and the visit from Bob were just two of many events the park has hosted over the summer, to mark the tenth anniversary of when it was first built.

Warren Blanchfield, manager of the Festival Leisure Park, said: “It has been a fantastic birthday summer, as we have had visits from the Batmobile, Gladiators, Dora the Explorer and so much more happening.”

Festival Leisure is now gearing up for autumn with an appearance from another children’s favourite, Peppa Pig and her brother George, on Saturday, September 27. There will also be a High School Musical Three event – the details of which will be announced shortly.

Next month the park will also host the regional premier of the much anticipated James Bond film, Quantum of Solace, starring Daniel Craig.
