HEADTEACHERS from an Indian city visited a Leigh School to discuss ways to celebrate cultural diversity.
Over the years, Belfairs High School has had many contacts with its counterparts abroad and the latest involved a visit from teachers in Chennai, on the south eastern-coast of India.
Formerly know as Madras, the city is the capital of the state of Tamil Naduand has retained its unique Tamil Hindu culture and is a major trading centre.
Dr Bhavanishankar head of the Chettinad Vidyashram School and and his deputy, Maya Shiv, visited Belfairs with Peter Gibbins, head of PE at Stourport High School, Worcester.
The Mr Gibbins' school is involved in a partnership with Belfairs and the Indian school, under a programme run by the British Council.
Belfairs teacher Nathan Cheung said: "Both Chettinad Vidyashram School and Belfairs are currently developing collaborativeactivities and have applied for the reciprocal visit grant from the British Council.
"If successful, this will enable two teachers from Belfairs to visit Chettinad Vidyashram school and vice-versa, hopefully later this year."
