A FIVE month old puppy was tragically killed after being hit by a “speeding truck”, leaving his owners heartbroken.

Milo the French bulldog suffered a crushed skull when he was run over by the truck after running out the home in Beauchamps Drive, Wickford and towards the road.

Owner Jade Tucker, 28, and her son Riley, six, are both devastated after the incident.

The dog was hit by a blue truck with a silver trailer on a dropped curb. Jade claims he tried to jump out of the way at the last second.

Jade said: “Milo was inside the house so my mum tried to make a run for it but he managed to escape under her feet.

“I started running after him and saw the truck come speeding down the road and I thought ‘this is it, he’s going to get killed.’ “Milo had gone to the curb but actually jumped back.

“He didn’t go into the road I just remember the man speeding down it.

“I remember just hearing a bang and going into shock.

“The man stopped for two seconds and looked as though he was going to come back but then drove off.”

Jade said the man, who is doing work near to her home, eventually sent Jade an apology over text - something she insists she won’t accept.

She added: “My little boy ran round the corner and saw Milo in my mum’s arms.

“They were the best of friends.

“My mum was covered in his blood.

“When we got to the vets they said he had died instantly.

“I could understand if Milo had ran out into the road but he hadn’t.

“It his ripped my heart out.

“ I keep reliving it in my head.

“I just want to raise awareness.

“There’s a school on this road.

“Next time it could be a child that is hit by a speeding driver.”

The mum claims that initially police closed the investigation but have now re-opened it.
