PLANS for homes and shop space to replace a showroom are set to be agreed next week.
Proposals include a development of part three storey and part four storey building with nine flats and shop space at 24 High Street, Wickford.
The site comprises a flat roof two storey retail furniture showroom premises located in a setback position on the east side of High Street, Wickford.
Council planning officers say the development is suitable and should be agreed at the planning committee meeting next Thursday.

The planning officers report says: “The planning application proposes the provision of a total of five car parking spaces to the rear of the building, accessed from the service road serving the existing commercial premises to the east side of the High Street, and public car park.
“The detailed design would be compatible with existing development in the town centre, enhancing the appearance of the site within the street scene, and would not harm any wider redevelopment proposals. The development would not result in material detriment to any nearby residential occupiers.
“The level of car parking proposed, albeit lower than would be required in a suburban, residential area, is considered acceptable and to accord with current parking standards having regard to the highly sustainable town centre location of the site close to alternative transport options.”
