A man was left with fractures to his eye and nose after being brutally attacked in Southend.

The 28-year-old victim was pushed to the ground and repeatedly kicked and punched during the assault in Marine Parade.

It took place at around 1.50am on Sunday August 22, with a police probe now launched into the attack.

A 20-year-old man from Poplar in east London was arrested on Friday (October 8) on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.

He has been released under investigation while Essex Police continue their enquiries.
