A man has been left with serious injuries after being hit by a car near a busy junction.
The crash involved a pedestrian and a Ford Fiesta, shortly before 5.20pm yesterday in London Road, Benfleet, close to the Tarpots crossroads.
The pedestrian, a man, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

An Essex Police spokesman said: "We now need anyone who saw anything or has any dash cam footage of the incident to contact us. If you have any information you can submit a report online at https://www.essex.police.uk or use the 'Live Chat' button to speak to an online operator between 7am-11pm.
"Please quote incident 892 of 19 January. You can also call us on 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
