A NEW café and wine bar is set to open a second branch in Southend city centre.

Café No.11 is coming to a site near the High Street in the coming months, following the success of their first branch in Rayleigh.

The Southend eaterie will be open for breakfast and brunch during the day, before becoming a wine bar in the evening.

A spokesman for Café No.11 said they were honoured to be able to open in the newly-crowned city.

They said: “Opening a second location is extremely exciting for us and we are really excited to bring our food and menu style to Southend.

“We have a lot of Southend-based customers coming to our café in Rayleigh already, and so we hope we can give the No.11 experience to a lot more people.

“Being located in the city of Southend is a very proud moment for us.

“Navigating the business through Covid has been hard but with the incredible hard work our team have put in and the amazing support we have received from our guests this wouldn’t have been possible without them.”

The owners of Café No.11 have yet to reveal the exact location of the new business, but say it will be a short walking distance from both the High Street and Southend Victoria train station.

They hope to be open around June.

The spokesman added: “Our operating times are still being finalised, but we are planning to bring the same breakfast and brunch offering that we are famous for in Rayleigh. And with the new location being designed so beautifully, we will be able to open in the evening for cocktails.

“We will also be developing a small plate food menu for the evening to complement out selection of drinks.

“Contributing to the local area is incredibly important to us, we already use local independent suppliers as much as possible in Rayleigh, and we will aim to continue to do so at the new site.”

Café No.11 has also started its recruitment process, and is looking for a head chef, a chef, an assistant manager, and a pot wash/kitchen assistant.

Residents were also pleased to Café No.11 expanding and having a second location in Southend.

Annie Jones, 45, and a Rayleigh resident, said it is great to see a popular independent business expand.

She said: “It is just lovely to see a Rayleigh business doing so well and being successful.

“Every time I go to Café No.11 it is always so delicious, I wish them every success in their new location!

“It is nice to see an independent business be able to expand as it is pretty rare to see it happen, and I love all the independent places in Rayleigh.”
