POLICE have launched an investigation after an Essex refuse worker died – a month after he was struck by a car.

The worker, a man in his 40s, had seemingly recovered from the incident having initially suffered a broken leg.

He was crossing the road in March when he was hit by a black Mercedes.

The man was rushed to hospital and underwent surgery before being discharged.

But he died on April 20 and Essex Police has now launched an investigation over concerns the crash may have been a factor.
