SOUTHEND’S landmark attraction has a new activity available for day-trippers after it announced a new 18-hole crazy golf course.

The announcement from Southend Pier and Railway came on Saturday afternoon, with the new crazy golf course just one of a range of new attractions which have been introduced or refurbished in recent months.

Southend Pier has also seen a new burger hut open, as well as a new train line, which was tried out by youngsters last month.

The restaurant at the end of the pier has also been revamped, and work is due to start on a new viewing platform and improved toilets.

The renovations come as part of Southend Council’s £336,000 investment in the pier, which extended its opening hours on Tuesday.

The attraction is now open from 10.15am until 9pm each day.

Southend Pier Crazy Golf is currently only open on weekends, from 10.30am until 7pm on Saturday and Sunday, with prices set at £5 per person or £15 in total for a group of four.

A post from the Southend Pier and Railway Facebook page joked the news was “tee-rific," with the new course superseding the previous course which had only 12 holes.

After a record-breaking number of visits in January, hopes are high for Southend Pier to record its highest number of visitors.
